My Annual Affair

February 20, 2007 · 5 Comments

A typical CNY celebration…

Its CNY again… and here I am, back to my hometown, Malaysia, for visiting and catching up… usually I would be quite stressed up before and during my CNY trip… but this year it was all well and happy… lotas of laughter, chit chat, home cooked food, titbits, stories telling etc etc… enjoyed myself! Thanks to everyone back home!!!

17 Feb Sat: Reunion Lunch @ Sg Bulor

Totally bloated after this yummy home cooked lunch at 2pm…

Reunion Dinner at Six Happiness Restaurant @ Setapak

The usual restaurant we patronise every year…

Our Menu for that nite…

  Six Happiness Yu Sheng

(sorrie, was too busy eating sharkfin soup… forgot to take pic ha)

Poached Fresh Tiger Prawbs with Kei Chee

Steamed Double Pomfret Fish in HK Style

Pig’s Trotter with Dried Oyster & Mushroom

  Braised Mixed Vegetables

  Waxed Meat Fried Rice

  Double Pastry

  Ginger Tea with Sweet Dumplings

Dinner ends at about 9pm+… by that time I was totally knocked out… too full to even stand properly ha…

Nevertheless… I still have some reserved energy for fire crackers ha… haven’t been playing fire crackers since grandma shifted from a landed to a apartment…

Smaller version of the fire crackers are still allow in this part of the world ha…

18 Feb 1am: Bunked over at my grandma’s place that nite… had a good chat with her, my uncle and aunt and also my 3 lovely cousins…

18 Feb Sunday Morning: 1st Day of CNY

A typical breakfast on 1st day of CNY. All these lovely cakes are home baked by my aunt… YUMMY!

Something that my grandma will not miss… offering her prayer to the god and goddess on 1st day of CNY

Here’ the highlight of the day ha… our annual betting games ha…

This year the winner walked away with RM350 : )

3pm in the afternoon: Considered myself lucky… My cousins treated me for a night stay at Berjaya Times Square Hotel

The hotel room was quite impressive until we found out that the air-con wasn’t working probably until 30 mins later, the toilet bowl was overflowing when you flush, the cable tv in the room got no service and worse of all, you need to call the room service hotline more than 6 times before they could send someone up to check on our problems ha… anyway… that doesn’t matter… all it matters was the company I had that day….

We couldn’t wait any longer for the engineers to come so we left the room and head down to the shopping complex…

Cosmo World… can you see the roller coaster inside the shopping complex… COOL! Entrance fee is RM25 for adults and RM15 for children below 12 (if i remembered correctly)

Tea break time at The Baker’s Moment…

No words can describe all these mouth watering bread ha

And thats not all… we had ice cream at Baskin and Robins…

That’s not all… guess wat?? we had our dinner at around 5pm + that afternoon …. @ Laska Shack

Hope I remembered the names correctly ha…

  This should be Assam Laska

  This is Johor Curry Laska

 This is Laska Kelantan

And this is the special one… Nyonya Laksa… lots of coconuty taste

 Pots of Laksa Gravy

Can you image how shaq we were after all these food and shopping ha… we headed back to the hotel for Bailey’s with Chocolate milk that nite… we had snacks and chips and chit chat till late…

19 Feb 10am: Nearly missed our breakfast buffet ha… this was what we ta bao from the buffet line ha… typical Asians!!!

Time to say goodbye 3pm: Had another sumptuous meal before leaving for the airport… wow, guess I must have easily gained few kgs over this CNY ha….

Bye everyone… counting down to our next gathering again @ Genting….

BQ Korean

February 14, 2007 · Leave a Comment

It’s Korean food again! This almost new contemporary Korean restaurant (opened 15 months ago??) is located at Far East Sq, Singapore… Highly recommended is their Bi Bim Ba S$10.90 (beef or vegetable bowl).

The ingredients includes mushrooms, zucchini, radish, soy bean sprouts, eggs etc… It also comes with a red sweet/sour sauce that you pour over and mix with.

Also highly recommended is BQ Korea Ginseng Chicken Soup, S$12.90… this is my all time favourite…
